  63. DEMO DISTRIBUTION
  64. You may give a copy of your Operation: Inner Space demo to others, but may not 
  65. distribute Operation: Inner Space for direct or indirect profit by any means, except 
  66. through express written agreement with Software Dynamics, Inc.

  68. INSTALLING
  69. You must first be in the Windows environment to install Inner Space.
  70. 1) Unzip INSPACE.ZIP in a temporary directory. 
  71. There should be 22 files created, including SETUP.EXE. 
  72. 2) Run SETUP.EXE, the Inner Space installer.  
  73. 3) Install Inner Space to a new directory (C:\SPACE by default) or over an
  74. existing copy of Inner Space to upgrade it.

  76. NOTE: After installing, the game sounds might be turned off. Open Game Setup (Alt-G)
  77. to turn sound and voice effects back on.  If this download does not include SND_FX.DLL
  78. & ENG_FX.DLL, GO GAMDPUB on CompuServe to get the latest sound files for the game.

  80. STARTING TO PLAY
  81. Run Inner Space (INSPACE.EXE) from Windows.  During the game intro, press 'ESC' to
  82. start a new game. Select a ship to fly into Inner Space.  To start playing, just 
  83. use the arrow keys (Thrust=UP, Turn=LEFT, RIGHT, Brake=DOWN). Use Shift or SPACEBAR
  84. to shoot. For more information about the game, see the online help (press F1 or F2).

  86. SCREEN SAVERS 
  87. Inner Space comes with a configurable screen saver interface so that a changing
  88. game demonstration can be your screen saving display. 
  89.  
  90. SHIP FACTORY
  91. With the Inner Space Ship Factory, you can view all the ships in the game
  92. and compare their characteristics.  You can also use the Factory to make 
  93. customized ships for use in Inner Space!

  95. TECH SUPPORT
  96. We provide tech suppport by phone, fax, email, and regular mail.  If you have access 
  97. to CompuServe, GO GAMDPUB and look in section 18 (Software Dynamics) for Inner Space 
  98. upgrades, hints, and technical support.

  100. If reporting a problem with the game, we ask that you tell us if you can repeat the 
  101. problem yourself and provide all information necessary for us to repeat the problem.  
  102. If we can't repeat the problem, it will be very hard to fix it.

  104. MEMORY
  105. If the game halts with an error, it may be that Windows is low on memory.  
  106. Please check that Windows is set up to use at least 2Mb of virtual memory.  To see or 
  107. change Virtual Memory settings, open the "386 Enhanced" item from the Windows Control
  108. Panel (CONTROL.EXE).
  109.  
  110. VIDEO DRIVERS
  111. Inner Space has been extensively tested on many different systems.  However, there may 
  112. be problems with the drivers for some high-performance video cards.  We have to devise 
  113. workarounds for such video cards. If you encounter a problem when the game is loading 
  114. graphics, it is probably a video driver problem.  Try turning Enhanced Graphics off. 
  115. If that doesn't help, select VGA or SVGA from Windows Setup as your Display type. When 
  116. you run the game again, if the problem does not occur, the problem is definitely with 
  117. the video driver and we will work on a fix ASAP.

  119. MIDI MUSIC
  120. If Inner Space's music has incorrect or missing instruments, check your MIDI 
  121. mapper settings (in Windows Control Panel).  For Enhanced midi sound cards, use 
  122. channels 1-10, Basic midi sound cards use channels 11-16.
